4 Ingredient Tortillas soft
Ingredients
2 cups plain flour or bread flour
75g melted butter
⅔ cup very warm water
1 teaspoon salt
Method
● Add salt to the warm water and stir until dissolved.
● In a bowl, add your flour, then pour over melted butter and mix, then use your
fingertips to crumble the flour, mixing the butter evenly.
● Next pour in your salty water and mix until it forms a shaggy dough.
● Once the dough has come together, use your hands to knead it, then transfer to a
floured bench and knead for a couple of minutes until smooth. Return dough to the bowl
and cover with a tea towel and leave on the bench to rest anywhere from 15 minutes
to a couple of hours.
● Divide the dough into 8-10 chunks, depending on how large you want the tortillas. I
do 8, I like them a little larger. With a floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll out the dough
into a rough circle, spreading it nice and thin. It helps to shape the dough into a disc
before rolling. Sprinkle flour on the disc to help it not stick to the rolling pin, if needed.
● Stack the tortillas, and when ready to cook, preheat your skillet over medium to high
heat.
● I add a teaspoon of butter and spread it around the skillet before adding my tortilla.
Let sit for 30 seconds, and the tortilla will puff up with bubbles. Once some spots have
browned underneath, flip the tortilla and cook the same.
● Transfer tortillas to a plate and stack keep warm under a tea towel.
